Khazar port complex to double in area

In near future the surface of the khazar port complex will double from one thousand hectares to two thousand. In a meeting to review the khazar (Amirabad) Special Economic Zone held in Mazandaran Government house, Manoochehr Tatina, Director of the complex said: " Due to unique local potential such as location in beautiful southern coast of the Caspian Sea and on the NOSTRAC Course, the port with its very high potential can play a prominent role in both national and international levels."

He added: " In addition to being linked by rail to the Shahid Rajaiee and Imam Ports in the south of the country, the Khazar Special Port Zone, is situated at a distance of 51 Km from Sari, the province's centre and 300 Km from Tehran, and is ready to transit cargo from the northern coast on Caspian Sea to the south of the country."

Dr. Gholam Reza Ansari, Governor of Mazandaran described expansions of structures and port activities, as well as the development of transportation network, particularly the railroads in the country and in Mazandaran as necessary.

He said:" The population growth, urbanization and expansion of human environment and consequently the shortage of land, force us to turn to infrastructural plans, including expansion of ports and development of foreign trade."
