Distance from Tehran : 927 Km

Distance from center of the province : 185 Km

Distance from the nearest airport : 25 Km

The port is connected to Tehran and to other cities of the country by road , air and railway .

The temperature range during the year is +6 to +50 degrees centigrade .

The humidity range during the year is %15 to %99 .

 

B. History : 

Since port of Imam Khomeini is close by industrial and agricultural bases and also to big markets, it is considered as one of the most important commercial ports of Iran . Being near to Mahshahr , Abadan and Ahwaz airports avails necessary facilities for transportation companies to handle smoothly their cargoes . Since half of non-oil products of the country is exported via Port of Imam Khomeini it is considered as the greatest trade terminal of Iran . Development in transportation industry along with well-equipped facilities in Port of Imam Khomeini has made this port as a ‘Golden Ring’ for transiting goods in the region . This ring links Northern cold lands to Southern warm waters . Port of Imam Khomeini , having the most progressive and updated anchorage equipment provides the most complete and powerful anchorage services for the owners of ships and goods . This port having been linked with I.R.I. Railway and also enjoying various berths , depots , wharf and developed equipment , facilitate direct carriage between ships and the most important industrial and trade centers of Iran and neighboring countries .

 

C. Port of Imam Khomeini Facilities :

This port as one of the most important and greatest trade ports of Iran enjoys following facilities:

* Transit of goods via this port to CIS destinations , as per increasing inquiries for transit to CIS.

* The most well-equipped control management system in this region ; (V.T.M., V.T.S.)

* Electronic Data Interchange (E.D.I.)

* Computerized system for controlling port equipment , load meter and cargoes

* Well-developed security system with C.C.T.V.

* 2 equipped fire station

* Well- experienced port personnel

* Tele-communication facilities ; computer telex , etc.

This port enjoys also following terminals :

* Terminal for CNTR 

* Terminal for industrial powder

* Terminal and silos for grains to be transited

* Terminal for general cargoes

* Terminal for barges and ore

Now we describe 2 main terminals as below :

1. Terminal for CNTR :

This port enjoys a terminal for CNTR having modern equipment including ,e.g.,gantry cranes , transtainers and top lifts . There are also C.F.S. and large yards for CNTR providing facility for loading / offloading 400,000 TEU per year . Since this terminal is linked to I.R.I. Railway and enjoys very large and special warehouses , it has a major role in the transportation system of the country .

2. Terminal for industrial powders :

Since Aluminum powder and ironstone are primary substance for many industries of the country , one of port of Imam Khomeini terminals has been set aside for these products which is equipped with deposits , special equipment for loading ironstone , and conveyor belts . Also one of berth posts has been allocated to ships containing Aluminum powder . Two ships at the same time can berth in this terminal and as it is linked to I.R.I. Railway there is possibility to discharge the same at the same time and load the cargo on wagon or truck .                      

D. Warehouses and Port Area : 

Yards : 10,980,790 sq.m.

Warehouses : 287,940 sq.m.

The port includes three berths for general cargo and bulk , container , silo for cereal , barges , Gulf agency , trans-terminal , and ore with 25,2,1,1,1,and 1 posts respectively . The capacities of these berths in tons range from 45,000-60,000.
