Types of depots,

From the aspect of construction:

1. Covered depot for hazardous goods
2. Covered depot which has roofs but its four sides are open and also it doesn't have wall.
3. Open depot (for machineries and heavy equipments which won't be defended by sunlight and rain)

The cargos in depots are assigned by codes in different ways:
1. Ordinal numbers
2. Group numbers
3. Decimal number
4. by letters
5. by the first letter of cargo's name
6. Hidden method
7.Special Coding Method.

Different type of storage:

1. Storing the cargo according to their codes, considering maximum availability.
2. Storing the cargo according to their codes, considering minimum availability.
3. Storing the cargo according to their arrival
4. Storing the cargo according to their code, having the shelf number.

Objects which should be observed for stowage:

1. Anticipating necessary space for goods is depot, as lift trucks can turn by the angle of 30' or 40' in corridors.
2. The corridors should be safe for workers and there shouldn't be the danger of cargo dropping, and the cargos should be arranged in ruling places.
3. Anticipating the free space for depot's doors for ease the opening and closing the doors.

Depots in ports:

1. The depots for general cargos which are the first construction after jetty and are used for storing the goods for long period.

2. Transit decks which are used for transit cargos for short period and they have been placed between jetty and general depots.
