The general cargo pier of Bushehr is made ready for operation. Mr. Abdulkarim Maleki , general director of Bushehr P&O said: ” This pier which is the fifth in part of Bushehr measures 15 m in length and 12 in width.” The added that the pier had increased the cargo handling capacity of the part from 2.2 million to 2.7 million MT: “with the start of the operation of the pier , the possibility to admit 20 thousand MT vessel is now provided in Bushehr” he stated:” previously only vessel of up to 15 thousand tonnage were able to berth in the port.” The pier’s draught in 8m and can be extended to 11 m. Mr. Molehi mentioned that 12 billions Rials were invested for the construction of the pier.
